I have been receiving bladder cancer treatments in the Urology Clinic for 9-10 years. I live in the Altoona area and I take the VA bus to Pittsburgh. Previously there were 2 buses running and there was no problem. However, about a year ago they eliminated the 2nd bus causing me to not have enough time for all of my appointments. When I first arrived, I had to give a urine specimen to check for infection and it takes awhile to get the results back. Once I am cleared of infection I can receive my chemo which is supposed to remain in my bladder for 2 hours and then be removed. There was never enough time to leave it in the full 2 hours and still be able to get the 1:00 bus. I spoke to Sheri Lee about it and asked if there was some way to fix this problem. She happily sat with me and my wife and discussed several options, one of which was to get the urine test done the day before at Altoona VA and the results would be there when I got to Pittsburgh the next day. The doctor was ok with this plan and that has been a Godsend for me. This option also lets me know if I have an infection ahead of time preventing me from making a trip to Pittsburgh if I would not be able to receive the chemo.

There are not enough words to describe Sheri! She is understanding, friendly, professional, helpful, caring, always cheerful, knowledgeable, and makes me feel comfortable when administering the treatment. She brightens my day. She is one of the best nurses I have ever encountered since signing up for health care with the VA 20 some years ago.
