I was a patient at Mid Coast Hospital; as I delivered my second baby girl. I encountered two scary moments during my delivery, and Alyssa was there for me both times. The first scare we had, Alyssa came down to my level and had me look at her and talk to her to take my mind off what was happening. I had several doctors and nurses rush into my room, and Alyssa had me keep my eyes on her at all times. She made conversation with me and distracted me, and the next thing I knew, everything was fine and okay again. I truly believe part of everything resolving quickly was because of the way she helped keep me calm and distracted.

The second scare we had came from my actual delivery. Moments before my daughter was born, the delivery team realized my baby was stuck. Alyssa jumped into action very quickly. My doctor had a concerned look but calmly told the nurses to get help right away. The next thing I knew, I was being laid flat on my back, and I had a team of nurses back in my room for an emergency delivery. They prepared to take my baby as soon as she was out as they believed she would need assistance. Once again, Alyssa was there through it all. She jumped into position and hovered over me to help the doctor get my baby out safely. Alyssa kept encouraging me and telling me everything was going to be okay while also performing medical duties with the doctor. It truly kept me calm to hear her talking to me. Within minutes, my baby was out, and she was perfectly okay and healthy. I truly believe Alyssa is one of the main reasons my baby is here and healthy today. She demonstrated professional and exceptional care to me as a patient. I felt like I was at my lowest of lows, and it was encouraging to have a nurse who didn't let me give up. Birth is one of the hardest yet most rewarding things I have ever done and I will always be thankful I had Alyssa to get me through it all. Things could have been very different, and I truly believe she is a huge reason as to why my baby and I are here and healthy today.
