As the Surgical Chief of the SBC Gynecology Surgical Service, I have relied on Maricar Lamata in many instances to support projects in the OR (sometimes difficult and daunting) as well as to ensure a streamlined, efficient service. She has never let me down. She is extremely dependable, always acts with integrity, and the true definition of a team player. She acted with the same attentive work ethic during a recent incident involving an RFO. She was the only team member that remembered a foreign object had been left in the patient and contacted me immediately over the weekend regarding next steps. She then executed those steps expeditiously and professionally. Her concerns were centered around the patient as well as the team, not herself. The issue was resolved almost immediately thanks to Maricar, and the patient was appreciative and was discharged home without complications as a result.

Maricar has consistently been a valuable member of our GYN OR team. Most recently we had an incident involving an RFO in the OR. Thanks to her, the incident was caught quickly and resolved. She was diligent and acted with true integrity, saving the patient potential complications.

Maricar is a remarkable nurse, and she exemplifies the values of Kaiser Permanente Nursing. She provides excellent care, with integrity and compassion; she is a team player, extremely professional, and keeps the patient and family at the center of everything that she does.
