Chance takes the time to comfort and build that patient/nurse relationship, and he takes an active role in providing care to his patients and is attentive to their needs, all while helping the patients to feel valued and important.
Chance was on shift multiple days and was kind and respectful (to her and to us) and answered every small question we had. Such an amazing nurse. He was kind to fellow employees and showed willingness to do any job that needed done. My mother-in-law was the patient.

I was brought to the ER by ambulance with a broken hip. I was admitted to 4N and met Chance. No matter what I needed, nor how upset I became, due to fear and pain – he faced my issues professionally and with a smile on his face.
With his duties, he still made time to check on me, always asking, "What can I do for you, Ms K?" Kindness and politeness oozes from this nurse. JCMH should be grateful to have him on staff. He’s a blessing. Thank you.

Chance has been employed at JCMH and on 4N for just over 2 years now. Chance began in healthcare as a CNA while in the LPN program. This was his first experience with patient care. As a CNA, his confidence grew and assisted in his transition to becoming an LPN once completing the program. In this new role, Chance continues to provide excellent patient care, building on the knowledge and experience he gained as a CNA. He is a vital team member on 4N and is an advocate for his patients. He is often recognized in discharge phone calls by patients and also on patient rounds, acknowledging the care he provides.
When providing care to the patients, Chance does not rush through but takes the time to comfort and build that patient/nurse relationship, and he takes an active role in providing care to his patients and is attentive to their needs, all while helping the patients to feel valued and important. This provides great reassurance to the patient/family during difficult times that they will be well cared for.
Each day on shift, Chance is courteous to the patients, other departments and staff he works alongside, being an active team member at JCMH. Being a DAISY award recipient is a great honor, as the nomination has come from a patient or family member. In such a short time in healthcare, Chance has worked hard and is deserving of this recognition by the care he provides to each patient he encounters.
