Amy sang with him and stayed up with him despite her long and busy schedule.
Hospice is a very “harsh” word for me when the decision is made to place someone on end-of-life care, such as hospice. I have been working with Amy Cork, our RN Case Manager for almost a year. On our cottage, we had a client who was near the end of his life. Most nurses are good at what they do, but Amy is an exceptional “Angel Nurse” for all our clients. With this one client, who was at the end of his life, Amy made sure the client was well taken care of. She sang with him and stayed up with him despite her long and busy schedule. Any medical treatment needed, Amy would explain to the client in a way that he could understand what was taking place and what symptoms, if any, would take place. Amy prepared our client in a very loving way by speaking to him about death. Amy conducted a going away party for our client so that staff could attend, share their stories, and say their goodbyes. Amy had one of her friends come and play the guitar and to sing some of the client’s favorite songs, because the client enjoyed playing the guitar. Our client finally earned his wings while his “Angel Nurse” was not at work. She allowed him the opportunity to die with dignity and justice. Thanks to our “Angel Nurse” Amy Cork who devotes such love to all our clients under her care.
