I would like to nominate Joan Joyce for her consistent effort and ability to go over and beyond her daily duties as a nurse in the field. Joan has repeatedly taken on our branch's most complicated cases with the most challenging patients. Joan does this with an optimistic and proactive attitude and determination. Her dedication to her patients is consistently creating incredible patient satisfaction outcomes for our patients. Joan has displayed a professional connection with her patients on a skilled level while also achieving a personal and caring bond with every patient she sees. One example is a patient who was a daily wound care for whom three nurses prior were unable to establish a solid rapport with this patient. This patient was very difficult and needy and did not cooperate easily with staff. Joan asked to take on the role of case manager for this patient and was able to provide the patient with an understanding of her comorbidities, health limitations, education on treatment, and plan of care and set this patient at ease. Joan took care of this patient for a very long time with mercy and compassion, and this resulted in the patient feeling content, satisfied with her care, and appreciated. I have seen this pattern often with Joan and deeply appreciate her efforts.
