Mil was totally awesome. She had an absolutely genuine heart and truly cared about my health and well-being.
Mil or Amila ended up being my nighttime nurse every day I was there. And Mil was just absolutely amazing. Again, everything I think of a nurse being Mil was. She had absolutely perfect bedside manners. All that girl cared about was if I was comfortable and getting everything I needed. She was amazing. She was very accommodating and polite to my wife. My wife stayed with me every night, and Mil made sure she was comfortable and had someone to talk to. She answered every question we had and the one or two times she didn't have the answer, she went and found it and came back with it. I was very sick during my stay. I had a horrible infection in my lung going into my blood. I had a chest tube draining my lung to get it out. I was really scared and really sick at the same time, and that made for a bad situation. I had all kinds of worries and questions. When Mil would come in in the middle of the night to hang my antibiotics or get vitals or whatever she needed, I would be awake and worried, and she would just talk to me, just normal stuff to take my mind off of even being there.

I build race cars for a living and me and my stepson race on the weekends. I shared that with Mil and low and behold I find out she is a car person herself. She likes cars and had a really nice one at one point that she really put some time and money into and tricked out for herself. She shared with me how she had gotten rid of it because she had a two-year-old daughter now, and it just wasn't practical for her family anymore. I could really relate to that. Racing is a big part of my life and there was a point when I was young and my kids were young where I had to step away for a long time in order to do best for my family. And I just related to that so much.

Mil was totally awesome. She had an absolutely genuine heart and truly cared about my health and well-being. One of the last nights of my stay, my IV port finally took a crap. She tried everything possible to get it back but it was just over, I needed a new IV port. And we laughed so hard and joked together me, my wife, and Mil about how I jinxed that damn IV. It was just so funny and it came at a time I needed a good laugh. Mil took that bad one out and cleaned me up really good and nice. She then took a look and decided that she wasn't going to do my new IV . She felt she had someone on the floor that was better than herself at doing them. Not that she's not good at it, I'm sure she's absolutely wonderful and I have no doubt she could have done it herself without any issues but she just felt she had someone better than her. She decided she was going to get them so I had the best care possible and I thought that was absolutely amazing. You couldn't get anymore professional than that, when you know you have the best at something at your disposal that's what you do, you use them.

When most folks would have just gone ahead and done it and not said a word, Mil didn't. She stopped and explained to me she felt she had someone better for the job and she wanted my ok to allow them to do it. She asked me. She didn't tell me. To be honest no offense to the nurse that ended up doing it, she was absolutely wonderful and did an amazing job but I honestly wanted Mil to do it. She had been my nurse for several nights. We had built a rapport with each other. I trusted her completely and I would have allowed her to do it. But I trusted her and when she said she had someone better I knew she was saying that because she wanted me to have the best care possible and for her to admit that to me and recommend it just made my confidence and trust in her soar even higher. Mil is an absolutely amazing and wonderful nurse she truly enjoys taking care of folks and making them better and she will go above and beyond to make sure you get the best care available.
