I know I speak for a lot of the staff when I say we are so grateful to have Brandon as our boss, and without him, I don’t know where I would be working.
Brandon has reshaped 8C into such an amazing unit over the last couple of years. He took over a new standard for our unit. He focuses on creating a positive work environment that is really driven by teamwork. He has taken this team to reach high-quality care and safety measures. He supports us, encourages us, and holds us all accountable while cheering us on and celebrating each individual. He always is on the floor and helping out leading to everyone feeling like he is not only our director but our teammate.
Many of us go to him for help, advice, and problems, and he always has an open door for the staff. Since he took over, he has been a part of 8C, being the first unit in Michigan to win PRSM; he has been a part of our unit having a huge improvement in quality and safety for sepsis, hand hygiene, and pressure injuries. 8C has consistently had amazing feedback from patients on how great our unit is, and it all stems from Brandon. Without him, 8C would not be what it is. I know I speak for a lot of the staff when I say we are so grateful to have Brandon as our boss, and without him, I don’t know where I would be working. Our unit is a very challenging, complex, and heavy unit, but he is always there to be involved and help us, whether it is problem-solving, answering call lights, or passing meds. He is never shy to jump in and help which really shows he is part of the team. There is not a more deserving leader then Brandon to be selected for a DAISY for Nursing Leader. 8C and Michigan Medicine are very lucky to have Brandon working and representing them.
