Zamzam’s actions have personally affected me. She inspires me to be a better leader.
I would like to nominate Zamzam Murad Janneh for her extraordinary leadership skills while demonstrating excellence in the delivery of patient care through nursing practices. She shares what Kaiser Permanente envisions. She is a leader who believes in providing total health by making lives better with high-quality care and improved health for the members she serves. She not only meets Kaiser’s vision and values, but she is also the epitome of Kaiser. She brings that vision with her in every situation. With her vision, she can encourage and guide us to be the best and do the best for our patients. She has a way about her that makes our team want to jump right on board. Her integrity matches no other. Our team has come to understand what it takes to truly give the best care to our patients. Zamzam’s actions have personally affected me. She inspires me to be a better leader. Her cheerful outlook and mentoring abilities motivate me in my work and how I manage my employees. I am always striving to be a better role model by following her leadership style.
Zamzam brings strong assets to her role, and our group is incredibly fortunate to have her as our director. She is one of the hardest-working people I have ever met. Her extraordinary compassion, integrity, and dedication to Kaiser is unmatched. She is extremely organized and focused on continuously learning and developing best practices to manage routine activities both efficiently and effectively. If there is a question or concern regarding policy and procedures, she simply says, “Hold on a minute,” and not two minutes later, she has the policy up and is reviewing it for process improvement initiatives. She engages leadership with best practice in mind for our patients focusing on the significant changes needed.
One example I would like to share is when Kaiser asked her to step up to become interim VP. For someone who did not even recommend herself for the position, she had unwaveringly enormous recommendations within the Kaiser organization. This included upper leadership, physicians, coworkers, and even people who have collaborated with her in the past. It was astounding and heartwarming to see such outpouring of support. Zamzam is a huge asset to our organization. This shows the kind of leadership she emanates.

I am delighted to nominate Zamzam for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award in recognition of her visionary leadership and exemplary service to the state and its healthcare system. Zamzam has devoted her career to transforming the processes at Kaiser, specifically in internal Medicine. She is an administrator whose career has been driven by her unrelenting pursuit of high-quality, equitable, person-centered care. She has been NOVA’s Director of OB and Adult Primary care, where she has developed and evaluated interventions to improve the health and safety of both patients and staff. Her leadership has promoted a culture of inquiry. This has led to consistently achieving its target and narrowing the healthcare gaps of all the Mid-Atlantic region. Throughout this varied and distinguished career, she has remained a clinical nurse at heart who is committed to ensuring that our members consistently have access to high-quality care.
