Luisa Herrera consistently gives outstanding and compassionate care. On this day, she noticed the increased anxiety of her patient. She was here for a follow-up, but her daughter (48 years old) has stage IV Lung Cancer and had treatment that day. Luisa was on the physician all day to place her discharge. At 5pm Luisa got a call that her patient's daughter was in the Emergency Department, due to reaction with treatment. However, she was actively dying and being transported to Doey's House. Luisa flew into action. She wheeled the patient to the Emergent Department to be with her daughter. Once she came back, she orchestrated the discharge and oxygen and took her to be with her daughter as she did not want to leave her daughter's side. Luisa also arranged for transport home from Doey's House when her daughter finally passed. Luisa always goes above for her patients.
