Weng is a silent leader who does not need recognition or praise to make a difference in someone’s life. She is compassionate towards her patients and treats them like they are her own family members. When I passed by one of her patients’ rooms while rounding, Weng spent time speaking with a patient who was going through a loss in their life. She did not leave their side until the patient felt better. She never worried about what time it was or if she needed to do something else in the moment. When a patient needs her, she gives her undivided attention to them. Her compassion translates to staff on the floor as well. She makes an effort to make someone’s day and spends time talking to them if she notices something different about them.

She also values teamwork above all else and never hesitates to dive in to help someone whether they are her patient or not. There was a bariatric patient who required many bodies when providing bedside care. Weng never lets staff go into the room by themselves because she wants them to feel supported, safe, and provide the best care for the patient.

She is kind and selfless and never does anything for recognition. Weng truly cares about the people she cares for and makes a positive impact on the people she works with. She is a beacon of light who makes every day brighter when she is around.
