My father and I are nominating Loosamma (Loosy) Joseph for this award. My father was in the VA hospital, then transferred to another hospital to do procedures, and then a week later, came back to the VA. He is 75 years old and has been diagnosed with Large B-cell lymphoma subtype ABC. It is very aggressive and fast growing and is in Stage 4.

We ended up on the 7 East Floor, where Loosy was waiting for us with a kind and caring smile on her face to welcome us. During our time, she showed exceptional care as my father was given his first Chemo treatment. She sat beside him throughout the process. She was so attentive to his care with every movement or concern. She would explain exactly what she was giving or what he was experiencing. She was the calm during the storm. She showed extraordinary discipline and initiative to every need he or I had. We looked forward to the day that she was our nurse.

With the demonstration of her excellent care, knowledge, experience, and expertise in her chemo nursing career. When she speaks to other nurses, she speaks with confidence, encouragement, and a tender touch when helping them. Loosy’s empathy is like no one I have ever seen before. She has so much compassion for those she serves. I work in a Relationship business, and she exemplifies that in all that she does! She has an infectious smile (even with a mask), and her eyes' smile puts patients at ease. You can truly tell she has a passion for serving others. She is a special person to us. She made a difficult situation and a roller coaster of emotions bearable. She put us at ease! Thank you for taking the time to consider this remarkable nurse! She was a Godsend to us.
