Last night, we had a difficult patient, begging for help, but refusing care. He refused to change for his X-Ray, he refused vitals, he refused medication, he refused to change position so we could attempt to get films. There were RNs, techs, a Doctor, and even security trying to reason with him and help him understand that for us to give him the help he wanted, he had to allow us to do our jobs.

Erin McAvey came in to assist and was the only person the patient would listen to. She showed so much kindness, grace, compassion, and patience toward him. She stayed the entire time we were in X-Ray and kept the patient calm and cooperative long enough to get his exams done. She deserves so much praise for a job extremely well done and I just wanted to make sure the ER knows what an asset they have.
