We have had this patient multiple times on our unit. Both stays were for an extended amount of time. Brittany was the patient's nurse several times over both stays. She established a trusting rapport with the patient, who is autistic, and his parents. She has gone above and beyond to make sure the patient and his family have everything they need, reassured them, and just listened when needed. The parents have told me on multiple occasions how wonderful she has been and how much the patient looks forward to having her as a nurse. Even on the days she did not have him as a patient, she always made sure to stop in and check on him. On Valentine's Day, Brittany brought him a Valentine's Day present. A stuffed bear that he named Valentino (per his mother). She was not his nurse that day but again went out of her way to truly make the patient feel special. This is not the first time I have seen Brittany do something special for her patient. I have seen her bring Starbucks, go in search of a Coke Zero because the patient was craving it, and bring little "treats" just because. She always seems to find a way to connect with her patients and always gives 110%. We are so lucky to have her as a part of the C3 team and nursing profession.
