Donna made sure my sister was medicated and taken care of in every way possible.
I brought my sister into the ED Saturday evening, and she very quickly was given an esophageal cancer diagnosis with advanced metastasis to the liver. Basically, her liver was not functioning. She was transferred into hospice care at Shenandoah House. On Tuesday and Wednesday (before her transfer on Wednesday evening), Donna was her dayshift nurse. I could not have asked for a better person to take care of my sweet sister and family. She instantly answered call lights and asked if I needed anything every time she saw me come out of my sister's room.
Donna made sure my sister was medicated and taken care of in every way possible. Her care and compassion went beyond her patient and extended to my entire family. She constantly checked on me to make sure I had everything I needed. She kept checking on my niece and nephew to make sure they were doing okay. She even went so far as to show my 81-year-old mother the easiest way to get to the public restroom so that she didn't get lost coming back to my sister's room! On the day my sister was transferred, Donna made sure she was medicated and that everything was in order for her transfer. At a time when my family was in shock and devastated by the fact that we were losing my sister, Donna showed true care and compassion to all of us.
