Carrie is such a caring nurse, but I saw her go above and beyond for one of our patients. A patient was prescribed a respiratory medication that is very expensive, and there aren't many alternative medications to meet his need. He was distressed about the monthly cost because the medication seemed to be working well for him. She collaborated with a respiratory therapist, looked into pharmacy discounts, and ultimately guided the patient to work with the medication manufacturer. The patient called the drug manufacturer with the information Carrie provided and was able to get the drug mailed to his house at no cost. He was so grateful! I wanted Carrie to get recognition for taking the extra time needed to meet the patient's needs.
