Lynn Ortiz is the Simulation Lab Coordinator here at the College of Nursing. In 2001, she began working as a registered nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit in California, then Hawaii and Texas in 2008 and 2014, respectively. She completed her BSN and MSN with a certificate in nursing education from the University of Texas at Arlington. She worked as a nurse supervisor at MacNeal Hospital and transitioned into academia by working as a tutor and simulation lab specialist at Chamberlain University in 2018. Since working in simulation, Lynn has become passionate about implementing it into nursing education. She works extensively with faculty in the development and reorganization of simulation scenarios. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Lynn helped faculty and students shift simulations online with the use of i-Human virtual simulations for the BSN, graduate entry, and one DNP cohort. Additionally, one of her most well-received simulation developments was an Escape Room for the senior BSN students, covering content about blood product administration.
