Lorena, during her shifts in the ER, regularly goes above and beyond to do every task her patients could possibly need (from warm blankets to changed sheets to EKGs and listening to their concerns). She is thorough and efficient and truly embodies excellence in every shift. Lorena has immense compassion, not only for her patients but also for her coworkers. Lorena regularly brings in snacks for "Lorena Sunday" to lift spirits. Through her thorough rounding and exams, she catches changes in patient status quickly, ensures that all orders are met in a timely manner, and prevents safety complications that can arise from a lack of time spent with patients. She ensures her patients are aware of all the steps that are being taken to give them the best care possible. Lorena is truly one of the most impressive nurses I have encountered during my time at Swedish. Even when she has to take patients beyond safe staffing ratios, she makes it look easy. It is incredibly rare to see her sit longer than a minute or two. I am proud to say I work with such a wonderful patient care advocate.
