Jay has been unfailingly helpful, kind, and efficient throughout my lengthy stay here at Kaiser. She always had the information I needed and always had the necessary supplies in hand. She became more a friend than a nurse – someone with whom I could share my own struggle. I doubt Kaiser gets many 88-year-old women who are recovering from gunshot wounds to the abdomen, but Jay knew exactly what to do. Her rapport with decisions, surgeries, hospitality, and all the specialists was performed perfectly, with perfect skills and a perfect outlook. It would be hard to ask for more.

Jay came in and introduced herself. She returned about half an hour later to do her assessment and provide the morning meds. She was cheerful and encouraging as she learned about his health challenges. When she came in to administer IV medications, she promised she would return in half an hour when they were completed. No need to push the nurse call light, she was there. Now I understand that because of her checking in on us on a regular basis, she greatly reduced the number of call lights going off during the day. I hope she will be my husband’s discharge nurse today because we know the process will be quicker and smoother. She was our nurse for discharge. Keep us well informed; we are so grateful.

I have had the pleasure of being taken care of by Jenn Madrid during my stay on 4-N. After surgery it took some figuring out to find the right pain medication for me. Jenn was on top of it, calling the team to update orders, checking on me frequently, offering me heat, ice, repositioning. She is thorough and attentive! She really helped me got on a medication schedule to manage the pain; she was a real-life saver.

Above all that, I truly appreciate how professional, thoughtful, efficient, and KIND she was in delivering care. I hope you all recognize her outstanding care because these are all the things that mean so much to patients going through painful procedures.
