My wife, Ms. E, was a patient recently for six days after major surgery at Advent Health Hospital in the SPCU (Surgical Progressive Care Unit). I have witnessed Michielle’s outstanding performance and dedication as a nurse while my wife was experiencing an exceedingly challenging time after two major surgeries in less than a week.

As her husband, I was extremely worried and tried to be strong and not to show my concern as she was recovering from her surgeries, but all kinds of thoughts ran through my mind, and at times, I felt like an emotional wreck. I can honestly say that Michielle made a difference while in my sensitive state of worry, watching my wife as she slowly recovered from her surgery. Michielle exhibited that she is an exceptional nurse who provides high-quality, compassionate, patient-centered care. Michielle also demonstrated clinical excellence by consistently applying evidence-based practices, following safety protocols, and updating me about my wife’s physical condition and her progress on every shift she worked. Michielle displayed leadership and always advocated for our needs while at the hospital, like working as a case manager.

Additionally, Michielle exhibited professionalism and uplifting collaboration and maintained a cheerful outlook while at the same time building a strong personal relationship with my wife, making her feel at ease while recovering. I know Michielle’s contributions have made a positive impact on my wife after her surgeries, and I want to recognize her support, professional efforts, and nursing skills during our family health scare. Michielle is a role model and an inspiration for her peers, the nursing profession, and the Advent Health Hospital System. Michielle embodies the spirit and the standards of The DAISY Award for Nursing Excellence.
