And although I don’t really remember what she looks like, I do remember her soft and calming voice, which spoke to me in a way that warmed my heart and let me know that everything was going to be just fine.
I recently had surgery. I remember being very nervous and scared at first, but in no time, my nerves were calmed by all the nice people that I encountered and who were a part of my care team at UAMS. But there was one nurse who just stood out to me for certain reasons. Her name was Dara, and she was my recovery nurse. I remember kind of being out of it still, and my eyes were still closed, but I could hear her talking to me and asking me questions. I think maybe I nodded my head to answer her questions, but what I remember most about her is how kind she was to me and how attentive she was towards my needs. And although I don’t really remember what she looks like, I do remember her soft and calming voice, which spoke to me in a way that warmed my heart and let me know that everything was going to be just fine.
Although I can’t recall the entire conversation, we had that day I do remember her giving me a hug and I gave her a thumbs up as I was being rolled out to go to my inpatient room. I just kept thinking about her that day and the days to come…. thinking to myself and telling others if only everyone could have a nurse named DARA then would they see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts what a compassionate nurse really is!!!
I truly appreciate her professionalism, her understanding, and the respect she had for me was undeniable. I’m forever grateful for her. She deserves to be recognized for her hard work and dedication that she displays as a recovery nurse. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you, Great job, Dara!
