Laura orchestrated getting antibiotic IV in place, getting a surgeon in to look at his toe, and providing documentation for me along with her phone number to bring back to the ship.
We boarded RCL, Serenade of the Seas. The next day, we were in your ER (Thankfully U.S. soil). R had stepped on a shard of glass about 5 days prior. He felt no pain due to peripheral neuropathy. When his foot got swollen, he thought it was an episode of gout. Twelve hours after boarding, he was receiving an IV on board. We arrived in the ER around 9am - the ship departure was 4:30 pm. Our luggage was on board because they wouldn't let us remove it unless we could prove he was being admitted. Registration went smoothly. The Admitting RN was fabulous in ordering an x-ray, which showed the shard of glass lodged against a bone.
Laura orchestrated getting antibiotic IV in place, getting a surgeon in to look at his toe, and providing documentation for me along with her phone number to bring back to the ship. The ER was full, but it appeared everyone's needs were being met. The young child with a broken wrist from our ship, along with 5-6 other patients. We were apprised of how long we might be in the ER until a bed was ready upstairs.
I would give this ER operation a 10! Procedure in place, Protocol followed. Absolutely no complaints - Model Facility ER.
