Bill’s efforts directly contributed to Kaiser Santa Rosa becoming number one in mobility for the entire region. Moreover, our patients benefit tremendously from his hard work, as early mobility is directly correlated with better patient outcomes.
Bill is one of the greatest RNs I have ever had the privilege to work with. He is highly intelligent and hardworking and always goes above and beyond our patients. In addition, Bill is always team-oriented and collaborative with the staff. For example, Bill recently was the driving force behind the improvement of mobility metrics in the ICU. Bill took the initiative of investigating why ICU mobility scores were low and worked with the region. He also formed the dept ICU UPC mobility team and created the “CLOF/Mobility Reminder-Simplified” reference guide for the staff. Further, Bill also inspired our leadership team to support this initiative and work with our 3west staff to improve mobility scores. Most importantly, he inspired and motivated several of our ICU RNs to become mobility champions for the unit. Within two weeks, the ICU's mobility scores went from the lowest of 17% to 100% several days in a row, while 3west’s mobility scores continued to rise above 80%; this is an outstanding achievement in such a short time. Bill’s efforts directly contributed to Kaiser Santa Rosa becoming number one in mobility for the entire region. Moreover, our patients benefit tremendously from his hard work, as early mobility is directly correlated with better patient outcomes.
This mobility example is only one of many ways Bill directly contributes to the highest quality of patient care. In my opinion, he has become a role model for our ICU team and truly sets a new precedent for excellence in nursing. In summary, Bill is truly an exceptional RN, and it is my honor to nominate him for a DAISY Award.
