The DAISY Nurse Leader Award was created for quite a different purpose – to shine a light on those who do not typically have direct resident care as part of their work on a daily basis and those who create an environment where compassionate, skillful care thrives. This award recognizes Managers such as our wonderful Assistant Director of Nursing, Susan McCullen. There is nobody more deserving of this award than her. Susan has been a mentor to a lot of us here today. Her compassion, commitment, and dedication to care for the older person here in Sunhill Nursing Home for the last 19 years has been phenomenal. Susan has worked in a number of roles, from staff nurse to Director of Nursing during this time. She is an exceptional advocate and voice for the older person. Her leadership skills are exceptional to the entire team here at Sunhill. It is my privilege to work alongside her every day.
