My brother, K, was hospitalized for one month after suffering two independent strokes as well as enduring many other serious health issues. During his stay, he was cognitively impaired and unable to care for himself. Oftentimes, Ian was his overnight nurse, a time when K was often very agitated. At the change of shift, Ian came in to check on K, and if he was awake, he always offered to go on a walk with him. K always took the opportunity to be with Ian - he bonded so easily with him. He always responded well to the wonderful ways Ian provided service. Unlike others, Ian prevented the necessity to call Code 5 as K wandered. Good nurses make a huge difference! He managed K with the skill, tenderness, and gentle understanding. While K could not, Ian always made sure K had access to movies on his iPad or to TV; he went the extra mile for K and his other patients. Ian's medical skills are of the highest caliber. He did his work effectively and efficiently at all times. He was the angel who watched over K at night. Most importantly, I want to convey that Ian's interpersonal connections with his patients, especially with my brother, have been a profound experience for both K and me. I've never seen another nurse as special, as compassionate, and as talented as Ian. He is the best of GSRMC! You should be proud to have him in your caring community.
