Krysta was extremely attentive not only to his needs but also to the needs of his family.
Krysta was my partner's nurse when he came in as a modified trauma after wrecking his motorcycle. At best, he is a very challenging patient. This was a scary time for our family, especially his 10-year-old son and father, who were both on the scene of the accident seconds after it happened. Emotions and anxiety were high, and my partner was not being the kindest person to the staff and providers. Krysta came to the waiting room to get us personally once we were allowed back into R's room. Krysta was extremely attentive not only to his needs but also to the needs of his family. She gave us an update on what had been done from the time the medics dropped him off until she came to get us from the waiting room. She explained things in ways that his dad and 10-year-old son could understand. She went above and beyond in trying to manage R's pain, thinking outside of the box and placing sterile wet dressings on the open to air, complex laceration until the Ortho Resident could arrive to examine him. She used humor to put R and his family at ease through this scary situation. The trauma room was cold, she made sure that not only R had enough warm blankets, but that each of us did as well since we had just come from the lake and were all still in damp swimwear. When she was leaving for her lunch, she did a very thorough bedside hand-off with the nurse covering her break. Krysta really made all the difference in the world for all of us with her amazing care, attention to detail, and great personality, which made her extremely easy to work with and put us all at ease.
