Julie stayed with me through the entire process and never left my side for a second. Her calming presence and jovial nature helped me to in turn be relaxed during this process.
I had the unexpected experience of requiring some medical attention during my scheduled shift. Shortly after lunch, I began to experience some intense sternal chest pain. The pain remained constant and did not seem to diminish as time went on. I approached Julie Nguyen and asked her for help. She offered me a wheelchair, which I declined, and she escorted me to the Emergency Room. Along the way I tried to self-diagnose myself, essentially trying to talk myself out of the ED visit, but Julie helped me to see that the visit was in my best interests. After being seen in triage, and an initial EKG, Julie remained with me in the ED throughout my several room and nurse changes. I encouraged her to leave, as I was now in good hands in the ED, but she declined. Julie stayed with me through the entire process and never left my side for a second. Her calming presence and jovial nature helped me to in turn be relaxed during this process. Julie's selfless act of just simply being there for me when I needed her was compassion and caring at its finest. Without a second thought, Julie put what she was doing on hold and assisted during a very stressful moment. Her devotion to caring for others is evident not only in the care she rendered me on that day but in everything she does here at Ochsner. With my permission, Julie updated my co-workers, who along with my Director, came to see me in the ED. The mix of care, concern, and friendship was really great to experience during that time of uncertainty. Once everyone left, the sister of the patient in the bay next to me poked her head around the partition and said, " You surely do have some nice friends and family." To which I told her...Yes, I do!
