Vee was even able to get me to laugh and smile, which was nonexistent when I arrived.
I came to David Grant Medical Center because I was having serious thoughts of suicide. My world felt as if it was crashing down all around me. When I was initially brought up to the mental health unit, I was scared and extremely nervous. Vee was the first person from the unit that I met. His tone and body language were calm and cool. He set the stage for me. He took me to get changed into scrubs and collected my belongings. During this process, he remained soft-spoken and calm. He was slowly getting me to relax (even if it didn’t show). He took me to the meeting room and just let me unload everything that was on my chest. The one thing he said that really stands out above all was “you are not alone”. He also said, “We are all here to help you.” His tone was so calming. Throughout my time here at the facility, he has remained a fixed point on which to focus. He has always listened to me, even if I felt like I was rambling on. He always showed me respect. Vee was even able to get me to laugh and smile, which was nonexistent when I arrived. This facility is blessed to have him on the mental health team. I just want to let him know that I love ya, brother; you are much appreciated!
