He took his time to help, to brighten my mood, to relieve my husband’s worry, and to ensure safety steps were taken.
Elion had me and 5 other patients one night. I came into Midstate with my husband in a complicated case- pain in feet, numbness in legs, floaty feeling in head, sensitivity to light. Though Elion was very busy at first - he came and introduced himself as soon as possible, and he and a co-worker helped me out for a few minutes. He got report on what she did for me from her and took over - even apologized for not doing it himself. He answered every call bell, every question, passed along all messages to my doctor, listened, and tried to help with any problems- like when the Dr. tried to discharge me three times and yet I still couldn’t feel my legs! He asked appropriate questions. He did an exam on me that even the Dr didn’t do - he asked what I could feel and where by saying, “Can I touch you?” And “Do you feel this or this?”; “Does this feel the same here and here?” He took his time to help, to brighten my mood, to relieve my husband’s worry, and to ensure safety steps were taken, such as the right socks and railings in the right color. He’s the one who informed me that I was to be discharged 2 out of 3 times, and when I said I disagreed, he asked more questions and then said he’d get the doctor for me. He showed that he cared about his patients even though he was truly working very hard and had a full load on his shoulders. He did everything right!
