Sherri made a special effort to treat this patient with loving attention, charity, compassion, and generosity of spirit.
I would like to nominate Sherri for a DAISY Award due to her compassion and love for a patient during a difficult and complicated hospital stay. I feel that without Sherri’s devotion and dedication to justice, this patient’s end-of-life wishes would not have been realized.
In school, we heard all about Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring and the 10 Caritas Processes ad nauseam. This was one of the first times I’ve seen it so well embodied in person. Sherri made a special effort to treat this patient with loving attention, charity, compassion, and generosity of spirit. Sherri went above and beyond during her shifts and would often stay after to provide comfort when the patient was too scared to be by themselves. Sherri stepped in and was a powerful advocate for the patient and a key part of them receiving the care that the patient wanted for their remaining days. Thank you, Sherri, for your compassion and caring.
