Brittney showed respect, compassion, and diligence throughout our long nine hours in the ER.
Brittney Yancy was my shoulder to lean on during the worst day of my and my husband’s life. She was truly a blessing. Brittney showed respect, compassion, and diligence throughout our long nine hours in the ER. We started with her and ended with her as our nurse. She constantly checked on us and made us a priority. I don’t know how the ER works, but it seemed like a lot of her rooms were right beside each other. It also seemed like she had numerous other patients but we could never tell that she was busy or had a bad situation going on in another room as she made us feel like her only patient. We could even hear and see her greeting everyone in the hallway. Whether it was a family member, patient, or coworker, she made a point to smile and say hello, good morning, or can I help you sir or ma’am? We left our door open just because she brought so much happiness to us, and it was amazing to see how happy she was to help others. One of the simplest things meant the world to my husband. At one point, he wanted a Diet Coke, and I wanted coffee. The next thing we know, she walks through the door with the biggest smile along with a Diet Coke and coffee. I never even told her creamer or sugar but she brought me everything to choose from. I will never understand the life of a nurse, but I will say Brittney has it under control, plus so much more. I have never had a nurse be as sweet and compassionate about her work as Brittney was. I truly believe that nursing is a passion and calling. This was Brittney’s calling. I hope y’all enjoy having Brittney as a part of your team as much as we enjoyed having her care for us. I can not say enough positive things about Brittney and the staff at St. Bernard’s Emergency Department.
