Morgan sat down with the daughter and spoke calmly to her for more than 30 minutes. She assured the daughter that the safest mode of transfer would be via ambulance.
Morgan had a patient who was quite a handful. She was fidgety, she would not stay still, and she was constantly trying to get out of bed and elope. The patient required moderate to maximum assistance and was unable to stand up/maneuver unless she used a device and had 2-person physical assistance. Morgan was aware that the goal was for the patient to be discharged home via ambulance that afternoon and did everything in her power to keep the patient calm, happy, and well-fed.

When the daughter learned there was an ambulance delay, she came to the hospital and attempted to take the patient home herself by car. Morgan sat down with the daughter and spoke calmly to her for more than 30 minutes. She assured the daughter that the safest mode of transfer would be via ambulance. She answered all of her questions, peeked in on them often, and, through her actions, was able to de-escalate an upsetting situation for the patient/family. Her demeanor was both professional and courteous. She continuously demonstrates excellence.
