The care they showed this family going through something that nobody wants to go through was the absolute core of what this hospital strives for. Every ICARE value was present, and they excelled at every one of those values.
On Saturday, Stacey was training Olivia for the charge nurse position when a patient came in while having a miscarriage. The patient knew that they would have a miscarriage but didn't know when. The patient had some retained placenta and heavy bleeding, and that was what brought the patient into the ER. The patient was taken to ER #1, and both Stacey and Olivia took care of the patient. Olivia was one of the nurses who helped this patient with the most care, professionalism, empathy, and compassion. Both Stacey and Olivia didn't let anyone else in the room and took care of all the needs of this patient. They answered every call light, got the patient everything they needed, and were doing this with a full ER that they were also continuously directing the flow of. Not only did they take excellent care of this patient, but they also made sure that they called L&D to get education on weighing the pads and made sure that the family had a box with all the options for keepsakes for the baby as well. Not only did they handle this patient with extreme care and compassion, but they also handled the baby the same way.

The care they showed this family going through something that nobody wants to go through was the absolute core of what this hospital strives for. Every ICARE value was present, and they excelled at every one of those values.

It is common knowledge that I have had my own miscarriages but it isn't common knowledge that I wasn't treated with the same respect that this patient was. It made me very happy to see them take such good care of this patient and their baby. The way that Stacey and Olivia handled this patient made me very proud to work here.
