He treated Mom like a queen.  He is so compassionate, kind, and caring.
A daughter of a patient was so impressed by the care and compassion her mother received from Wesley that she nominated him for The DAISY Award.  The mother was taken by ambulance because her health was declining.  She had lost 20 lbs in 3 weeks and was found to have chronic and acute lithium toxicity.  The hospitalist told the daughter that her mother was not going to make it.  The daughter told the hospitalist that the lithium levels were high, but then he told her that her levels were within range.  After going back and forth with the hospitalist, he finally agreed to have the nephrologist come to see her mother.  The nephrology assistant ordered a neck IV immediately and then dialysis.  It was late by the time her mother had dialysis, and this is what she had to say about Wesley.

“Wesley is SO, SO, SO awesome, caring, light-hearted.  He stayed after his shift was done around 2 until 10pm to help Mom! He didn’t complain and only wanted Mom to get better.  He treated Mom like a queen.  He is so compassionate, kind, and caring. He even went so much as to transport Mom to her hospital room.  He is in the right field and needs to be recognized above and beyond just a pat on the back. He needs to be cloned and show others what it really means to care and be kind to patients and people.  I wish there were a billion more Wesley’s in this world!!!  It would be such a better place to live!  Wesley, keep being you and always going above and beyond!  It is noticed and greatly appreciated!  He made it light-hearted the whole ‘scary’ process!  Thank you, Wesley!  You are the best!!! You are an asset wherever you are!!! He REALLY, REALLY, REALLY deserves this award and so much more!!!"

Wesley has been with the Village for almost 4.5 years.  He is a phenomenal nurse and I can honestly say that if I ever needed a nurse to take care of me, I would pick Wesley over and over again.  He is smart, caring, compassionate, and always has what is best for the patient in mind. He makes DaVita proud!!
