William's knowledge in his field is extraordinary, and he was fully supportive of my need to understand the intricacies of M's case.
William was the nurse for my husband, M. M was very critical when we first arrived at 5 in the morning. William took over M's care at 7 am.
William had a nursing student with him and it quickly became apparent how great a teacher William is. I was grateful for the student because I got to learn right along with her pertaining to my husband's case and care.
William was incredibly attentive to M, even taking into consideration that M was quite critical and required 1 on 1 nursing. William quickly picked up on the nuances of Mark's personality and utilized that in caring for Mark.
William's knowledge in his field is extraordinary, and he was fully supportive of my need to understand the intricacies of M's case. William took time for me to educate me on the terms and meanings of the words that described M's situation. William spent a solid half hour while M was resting answering all my questions and helping me to grasp what was going on with him. In addition to this time, William was always able and ready to answer any other questions I had or explain any of the plethora of procedures that M was having done. William exudes a deep sense of calm and makes the patient and family feel as at ease as possible, even in very tense or scary situations.
And besides all of this, and what I think makes William a true DAISY Nurse, is his willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty.
Even after M was deemed less critical and William was assigned to a more critical patient, he stepped in to help take care of his needs in checking on a beeping medicine drip line, checking M's wound left by the recently pulled balloon pump and returning to the beeping machine again to change out the IV bag, as M's nurse was otherwise occupied.
While I hope that we never have a need for William's care again, the memory of our time spent in William's care will live forever as one of my most special memories.
