Bridget always demonstrates a sincere commitment to providing excellent patient-centered care. A recent event serves as a prime example where she overcame several obstacles to advocate for a patient who was under her care.  

Recently, a patient came into the center to receive treatment. The Infusion nurse is considered the last gate of safety before any interventions reach the patient. The initial assessment of this patient revealed symptoms that warranted further attention. Even though the provider initially decided to move forward with the treatment plan, they changed their mind after Bridget persisted in communicating the assessment findings, which were later validated by the lab results. Bridget approached the provider and advocated for the patient to receive additional evaluation. Test findings revealed underlying issues that needed further care. The patient’s treatment was deferred, and they received additional intervention in the acute care clinic. Thanks to Bridget Danso, RN, who represents nursing excellence here at UTSW, this patient received a timely care decision. 

Bridget Danso has received several gold PACT pins for service excellence and is a recipient of the Meritorious Service Award. She is a clinical leader at the cancer center infusion clinic and serves in the role of charge nurse and preceptor.
