She used a very calm voice and even silence and accepted the reactions of the patient without judgement. Although the patient was angry and annoyed, this nurse opted to stay with the patient and make him calm.
Tulip Bulactin always demonstrates excellence and compassion in patient care. She is not only knowledgeable and skilled in this profession but also very sincere and dedicated in whatever she does. Her peers find it a blessing to work with her as she is always approachable and helpful.

Tulip is proactive in understanding patient needs. She has a positive attitude and is always seen with a smile. She provides exceptional care to her patients, and she is often praised by her patients during leadership rounds. Recently, a patient explained how Tulip was consistent in checking on her when the patient was suffering from pain. Tulip continuously assessed the patient, updated the providers in a timely way, and provided the patient with emotional support at the time of suffering. The patient said that Tulip made a very difficult situation acceptable and manageable. Another patient told me how meticulous Tulip was in following aseptic precautions to prevent any infections. Patients assigned to Tulip feel safe. She takes that extra time to ensure that their needs are met efficiently.

As I rounded on a patient and family, they told me a beautiful story of a hardworking and dedicated RN who made their life easy. This patient came in for an emergency surgery very scared and puzzled. Because of the stress of the situation, the patient did not behave in his best way. He was angry at the staff and was not letting the nurse provide the care needed. This nurse was Tulip. She stayed with the patient and family at their time of need while trying to understand what was going on with the patient. As she came to know the reason for his behavior, the nurse very calmly explained the situation, the need for emergency surgery, and the expected outcome. She used a very calm voice and even silence and accepted the reactions of the patient without judgement. Although the patient was angry and annoyed, this nurse opted to stay with the patient and make him calm. The family told me that the nurse "managed him as if he was her baby." After days of surgery and recovery, the patient and family were back on our floor. They were so excited to tell me how impressed and how thankful they were for the exceptional and compassionate care Tulip provided.
