When you are in the hospital and placed in a situation where you are unable to be self-sufficient, Alex Zalkin is the nurse you want. She is compassionate and dependable. She asks you about your goals for the day, and let me tell you that she achieves them. When my husband felt pain coming on, Alex was already knocking on the door. These preemptive visits to address all of my husband's needs in person were consistent throughout the day. She was reliable and made you feel as though you were her top priority by ensuring you conveniently had everything you needed to heal. On day two, she knew my husband's goal was to walk so he could get discharged home, and she had him up walking the halls before the MD and even PT could visit him that day. Alex went above and beyond and called the pharmacy herself to get the ball moving and allow us to obtain our prescriptions to go home. Lastly, we have to acknowledge that she makes the patient's room a little homier/welcoming by drawing a cute piece of artwork by her name to add some flair to those black screens. 2 East is lucky to have her be a part of their team.
