Anthony is the most amazing nurse I have ever had. When I came into the ICU after midnight, I was in a lot of pain and was extremely low. I was just at the hospital that morning for what was supposed to be a very noninvasive Lithotripsy to break up a 5mm kidney stone. Instead, I learned later that multiple arteries in my kidneys had been ruptured, and I had been bleeding into my abdomen since that morning's surgery. I needed emergency transcatheter arterial embolization to save my kidney. The level of pain I was experiencing made it very clear that I had no choice.

After 2 hours of emergency surgery, where I needed to be conscious so that I could hold my breath each time, they x-rayed me; I was brought to the ICU and met Anthony for the first time. He was the only one wearing a black nursing uniform; he was very focused and moved with speed, precision, and a sense of urgency that immediately let me know I was in the hands of an expert. What I didn't know yet, but learned over three days, was that he was also brilliant, kind, and most of all, wholly dedicated to his patients in a way I have never seen before. There is an indescribable attitude that all people can recognize when they witness an individual working at the job they would do if they didn't need the money at all. I believe Anthony is one of those lucky people. I know I would have had a much harder time if Anthony had not been there. Every nurse at Hunterdon Medical Center should try to emulate his constant positivity and excellence.
