Lindsay is a true nurse advocate. She listens to the nurses, and she takes action to ensure the best decisions in the moment are made.
Lindsay is a very experienced House Supervisor, and this is evident in her daily actions. She is knowledgeable, proactive, and diplomatic, and she always looks at both sides of the story. When you are the House Supervisor, you are often the in-between intermediary for the patient, the nurse, the doctor, other hospitals, EMS, and the plethora of other internal and external stakeholders that can either positively or negatively impact the daily operations of the hospital. As the House Supervisor, you are the infrastructure that holds everything together. Lindsay has all of these attributes and more!
Lindsay is a true nurse advocate. She listens to the nurses, and she takes action to ensure the best decisions in the moment are made. She is very proactive, and she does not wait for a problem to fester out of control. She takes action quickly and decisively, navigating the appropriate channels to ensure optimal outcomes. Lindsay is a patient advocate. For example, we had a long-term patient who needed belongings transported to another facility several hours away. She didn't take no for an answer when we were told the cost would be astronomical and the delay would be weeks, and she kept escalating to advocate for the patient. We were able to work with our CFO to cover the very expensive cost of reuniting this patient with his precious belongings. Her diligence and perseverance led to optimal outcomes for this patient.
Lindsay has been very supportive of our Central Staffing team and has cross-trained other nurses to cover House Supervisor. As the old saying goes, "If you enjoy your job, you never work a day in your life." Lindsay works extremely hard, but you can also tell she loves what she does. When she works, you know you will see her rounding literally everywhere. You know she will be able to know the intricacies of every floor. You know that she will receive a hundred calls throughout the day, and that with each call she will work with the team to find a solution. You know that she will listen to your frustrations and help you resolve them.
Lindsay is a true advocate for patient safety and staff satisfaction. When a patient needed to come to PBMC from WCGH for a procedure on a Saturday, Lindsay stayed with the patient and provided care in the surgery setting until the call team could arrive to help assist and recover the patient. Lindsay was tired and frustrated, but she worked with this manager to help articulate those frustrations and concerns and escalate them to someone who was able to take those and work on the workflow surrounding hospital-to-hospital transfers and transports. Lindsay needed a day to recover, and instead of calling out and leaving her team short, she found someone to cover her shift. Even when she is tired, she never wants to let her team down.
A true leader leads when no one is looking. Lindsay is this leader.
