Unfortunately, I’ve had some serious health issues landing me in the ER and extended stays ~4 times in the last 9 months. As you might imagine, this has been quite stressful and concerning especially since I never know the quality of care I’ll receive. But Susanne showcased the highest level of professionalism and dedication not just to me but to her other patients in the hallway, too. She not only adhered to the best practices in nursing care but also took the time to communicate effectively and really made me feel heard throughout every step of my care, immediately putting me at ease. What sets Susanne apart is her patient-centric approach; because of overflow, many of us were in the hallway, and she provided reassurance, privacy, and security when I felt uncomfortable as a result of a situation with a struggling patient a few beds over. Moreover, Susanne’s compassion was evident in her every action. She went above and beyond by assisting me with dignity and respect during a very personal task, making an uncomfortable situation bearable with her understanding and patience. Her kindness did not go unnoticed, and it made a significant difference in my overall care experience. Susanne is a beacon of what nursing stands for—care, compassion, and professionalism.
