I was recently diagnosed with an eight-millimeter obstructing kidney stone and had severe flank pain. Unfortunately, there was no "on-call" Urologist in the entire county who was able to see me, and I would have to be transferred out of the county. I was discharged and instructed to see a urologist ASAP. I called everywhere without success. I suffered a few days with severe pain and then reached out to my director, Lori Braun, BSN, to see if she had any suggestions. She immediately texted three different urologists regarding my situation. She received texts back, and one urologist reviewed my case and called me personally to set up surgery to remove the stone and stent placement. He called me over the next three days to check on me. If it was not for Lori, I would not have been able to function from all the pain and probably would have developed sepsis. She went above and beyond for me and she does this often for all her staff members. She is a caring and extremely kind individual and leader.Lori is an inspiration and an example of the golden rule!
