Although a DAISY Award recipient in the recent past, Wendy Limandri continues to exhibit and embody the characteristics that make her deserving of again receiving this honor. Over this past year, I have witnessed Wendy work closely with her patients in order to provide skilled, compassionate, and patient-centered care. As her manager, I have received countless compliments and accolades that take into account her skill, character, and ongoing concern for her patients and their families. VNAHG received a recent compliment from the daughter of a longstanding patient of hers that outlined the meticulous care provided. In addition to the words provided by this patient’s daughter, Wendy has gone above and beyond for this patient by making visits for care to her on non-scheduled work days, driving multiple towns over to a specialty pharmacy in order to pick up a prescription vital to this patient’s wound care, infection prevention, and well-being. Wendy does these things for her patients without a second thought, as her ultimate goal is to assist with restoring them to an optimal level of health. For these reasons and many more, I feel that Wendy Limandri, RN is again deserving of the honor of The DAISY Award for exceptional nurses. Here is an email from a patient: “Hello, I would like to nominate Wendy Limandri for the 2023 DAISY Award. Wendy has been caring for my mother for several months. My mother has diabetic wounds on both of her feet, and Wendy’s care has been outstanding. She is caring, knowledgeable and proactive. My mother’s situation is protracted, and Wendy frequently consults with my mother’s treating physician to brainstorm various ways to improve my mother’s treatment and move the healing process forward. More than medically competent, Wendy is a pleasure to work with — she is pleasant and always positive. Wendy provides my mother with emotional support and strength. She also has helped us source the proper medical shoes for my mother’s feet and lotions to help with the condition of her skin. When my mother was recently admitted to the hospital to further investigate the cause of and possible treatments of her wounds, Wendy called my mother the morning before to check in and reassure her. Wendy also visited her in the ER to ensure that she was getting the necessary care and that she was doing well emotionally. Wendy always goes above and beyond to take care of my mother and embodies the essence of The DAISY Award.”
