My mother was admitted after a very serious stroke. She had a great care team from the very beginning. But she was fading, and each day was becoming weaker and less able to communicate with anyone. The truth is that at 89, she was ready to go home to God and didn't want to be "fixed" but wanted to be comfortable. So, she was leery, and her eyes showed it of all the medical people who came near her. That was until Taylor walked in. I do not know what went on as I was gone for the day. But the next day, when Taylor walked in, Mom used all her strength and breath, with a huge smile, to tell me, "I like her," and she said that each and every time Taylor came into the room.

The last day Taylor was her nurse, Mom told both Taylor and myself, "I love her too!" I saw with my own eyes Taylor's patience with my mother every time she was in the room. She talked directly to her; she was the only person who could get her to take a few bites of food. Taylor never failed to either give her water or use a swab if that was all we could do. She made sure, without me asking, that Mom was kept clean and did it in such a friendly and caring way. In addition to my mom adoring her, Taylor was very helpful to myself and my husband, always asking if we needed anything or had questions, and was very helpful at connecting us to the case worker and Chaplin. She always answered the questions I had about my mom’s condition and interpreted some of the stuff the doctors said that I didn't understand. She brought smiles to my mom every single time she entered the room, and no one, including myself (her only child), did that!
