My father was transferred from the ICU to the Cardiac Floor. Teresa was my dad’s nurse. We found her to be a caring and compassionate nurse. My father was dying and couldn't communicate with us. Teresa ensured he was comfortable (ice chips, salve on his chapped lips, etc.). What Teresa did was more than expected, but her superpower was her compassion for our family and advocacy of our wishes. The system (insurance, hospital?) wanted to discharge Dad to hospice care, but she advocated that he stay for the very short time he would live. She also treated us and our wishes with compassion and respect. We felt that Teresa was going through the same terrible event as our family. She also changed her schedule so that she could be there for us during my dad’s final moments -and she was. My 92-year-old mother was so overcome by Teresa's love and compassion that she wanted to adopt her! We give thanks to her for the excellent and compassionate care my father received in his last days.
