It is my distinct honor to nominate Brittany Evans for the DAISY Award. I must, however, disagree with deserving “a situation” in which Nurse Evans demonstrated that she met the criteria for the DAISY Award. Nurse Evans did something much more difficult—she demonstrated the core values of integrity, commitment, advocacy, respect, and excellence over the entire course of my five-and-a-half-day stay at Ralph H. Johnson.

Nurse Evans demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to superior nursing from the extremely technical (I am a tough stick) to the more menial tasks, such as emptying and cleaning urinals and making sure that I had ice and water. Most importantly, she performed these tasks consistently with a ready smile and positive attitude. These attributes are especially important as all patients, to varying degrees, experience unease and trepidation in a hospital setting.

Brittany is exceptional in all regards.
