Kendall Wrye was caring for a young man with a new tracheostomy who had been experiencing extreme depression and was prescribed medication for it. Kendall knew her patient had been stuck in his hospital ICU room for a month, looking at the same walls every day. She took the initiative to mobilize her patient into a chair and wheeled him, his IV medications, monitor, and oxygen to the end of the unit, where there was a wall of windows. She enabled her patient to revive the light and warmth of sunlight while enriching his day with a wonderful change of scenery. This compassion and kind effort on behalf of her patient exemplifies the kind of nurse we should all strive to be. I am proud to serve as Kendall's co-worker and of her consideration for her patient and his mental well-being.
