Megan felt so bad for this patient and truly went above and beyond to help her. All the other staff recognized her action when the patient walked out with Megan’s coat on.
We had a patient come in yesterday to our Quincy Walk-In-Clinic who had walked quite a way to get here. As you know, it was freezing cold outside, and she did not have a coat on. She told the nurse, Megan Courtois, that she does not own a winter coat and can’t afford one. When her visit was over, the nursing staff helped her call several family members and friends – trying to get a ride home, but nobody would answer the phone. Knowing that this poor woman was going to have to walk back home with no proper winter coat, Megan quietly walked over and grabbed her own coat off the wall hook. She took it into the patient's room and gave it to this patient. Megan felt so bad for this patient and truly went above and beyond to help her. All the other staff recognized her action when the patient walked out with Megan’s coat on.
Megan was trying to be discreet about it and really didn’t want anyone to notice, but they did. The providers and other nurses tried to chip in and give Megan money to replace her coat, but she refused and shared with the team that she wanted to buy a new coat anyway. Thank you, Megan!
