Lisa treated each of us with respect and empathy. She engaged with each of us on various levels, making us all feel important in this process.
The unknown is probably the most difficult part of being a patient and a family member. This is not always the case if you have a nurse that is engaging, informative, shows empathy, is respectful and treats you like family.

Lisa knows how to read a room… Lisa was my daughter’s admitting nurse/resource nurse and delivery room nurse. S and her husband are first time parents.

I have been a nurse at ECH for 40+ years but my L&D skills are from nursing school. I was fortunate that my daughter wanted me to be with her during the whole experience from labor to birth and chose ECH MV to deliver her baby. Lisa treated each of us with respect and empathy. She engaged with each of us on various levels, making us all feel important in this process.

Lisa showed professionalism, expertise, knowledge and helped us navigate through each stage of L&D to make this the most memorable experience. The experience did not go without incident but throughout all the issues, Lisa showed poise, knowledge and had a reassuring attitude.

Lisa anticipated situations before they could escalate. She immediately stepped into action, which reassured us that we were safe. On one occasion, when the baby was in distress after the water broke, she used the VOCERA to call the doctor. Lisa did not leave the bedside, which made us feel safe and secure.

I heard her use the “SORT” and “QVV” methods of communication with the doctor. Once she received orders, she immediately jumped into action.

Post delivery, when S was bleeding, Lisa helped stop the bleeding with medication and massage. She did this in a way not to alarm or worry us. Her calm demeanor helped de-escalate a tense situation. Lisa explained everything she was going to do BEFORE she performed her tasks. She informed us when she would be back, and she never disappointed us.
We felt like we were the only people on the unit (although we knew it was quite full at the time).

Lisa is an EXTRAORDINARY NURSE in our eyes. We will be forever grateful and cherish the memories of the positive experiences we had at ECH L&D because of Lisa. Thank you!
