A patient admitted to 6W was facing a personal and difficult dilemma. She not only suffered a physical injury and required intensive therapy but unexpectedly, her loving spouse of 40+ years was recently admitted to the inpatient hospice unit. Jackie was in charge of a patient assignment and expressed her wishes to help our patient spend quality time with her spouse. Without hesitation, Jackie reached out to the 6W management team to assist in her plan to support a visit. Jackie personally escorted our patient down and sat with the couple for more than 30 minutes, giving the couple privacy to hold hands and be together peacefully for the last time.
